Strong STAR focus

  • Situation: Gap, ambiguity, or unmet need

  • Task: What you chose to take ownership of

  • Action: Decision-making, coordination, persuasion

  • Result: Measurable improvement, recognition, or adoption

Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking

Example prompts

  • “Tell me about a difficult problem you had to solve.”

  • “Describe a time you had to analyze data to make a decision.”

  • “Give an example of when you improved a process.”

Strong STAR focus

  • Situation: Constraint, inefficiency, or failure point

  • Task: Objective or decision required

  • Action: Analysis, tools used, tradeoffs considered
